Welcome to Hopkins County

There is always something to celebrate here!

Sulphur Springs is on the map as Celebration City and is located just a short drive from the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex. We have state ranked 4-A schools. Our high school wins District UIL Academic consistently with many students going on to State competition. We are also highly competitive in Sports and Fine Arts.

Our downtown features one of the few historically designated courthouses in Texas and it overlooks picturesque Celebration Plaza. The Plaza is often full of people of all ages- kids playing in the water fountain, picnic eating, playing on the oversized chess board or catching a concert on the lawn. Connally and Main Streets feature great dining and shopping, banking, Art and the Veteran's Memorial. The Downtown Business Alliance and Revitalization board have been instrumental in a gorgeous revamp that is underway all around Celebration Plaza.. . Downtown hosts Art Walk nights, historical tours, a Trolley, various Street Festivals, Summer movie nights, Farmer's Market and much more- There is always something to Celebrate!

There are lots of adorable boutiques in town to fuel any closet. There are also a few shopping centers with chain retailers as well.

We also have many well-known franchise restaurants, a Wal-Mart Supercenter and a Lowe's Home Improvement as well as various other retail establishments. For recreation, Sulphur Springs is only 20 minutes from the following lakes and parks in every direction: Lake Fork (bass, catfish, crappie), Bob Sandlin, Cypress, Cooper and Tawakoni. Camping, hiking and horseback riding as well as all types of boating. We also feature a 6 theater stadium seating Movie Cinema that plays first - run movies. Cooper Lake State Park is home to an amphitheater site currently being constructed to feature outdoor concerts and events. Our downtown Main Street Theatre also has ongoing community plays. A few years ago we developed a large soccer and baseball complex complete with walking trails, tennis courts, fishing dock and Imagination Mountain with a full time running waterfall! You will always find families playing, fishing or walking here and many an engagement photo features the waterfall in the background. In our city parks there is a frisbee golf course and Kids Kingdom playground, skateboarding complex, tennis and basketball courts. Hopkins County features two different festivals a year. In September, we host the Fall Festival- home of world famous Hopkins County stew, which was a feature on the Food Network channel a few years ago. "June is Dairy Month" and the Dairy Festival is a 50-year-old tradition complete with homemade ice cream and a pageant! It helps us celebrate the dairy industry, which is a rich heritage of Hopkins County and much of the surrounding area. Plus, our nighttime Christmas Parade with snow machine slides and white tigers is a treat for all. July 4th is a Symphony Orchestra and Fireworks around the Plaza.
